Forum and Documentation Maintenance on the 18th and 22nd
-
Dear community,
We will have to touch multiple parts of
developers.maxon.net
on the 18.01.2024 and19.01.202422.01.2024. This will result in outages of our documentation and the forum these days. I will try to keep the outage times to a minimum and it will certainly not span the whole two days. But especially one task I will do on Friday might take hours to complete and I can only do that on a forum which is in maintenance mode. Please make sure to download a recent offline documentation in case you plan to do extended development work the next two days. As a result, forum support might also be delayed on these days.
Cheers,

Dear Community,
Yesterday I moved the forum to a new URL. The new URL of the forum is
developers.maxon.net/forum/
. I have established a redirect for the old and now non-existent URLdevelopers.maxon.net/categories/
.This change moves our docs, the downloads, and the landing page out of the nodebb routing system which was cause for some issues. You can now link directly into our docs (e.g., https://developers.maxon.net/docs/py/2024_2_0/modules/c4d/index.html) without having to insert an
asset
in the URL. This also fixes some issues with the landing page in certain cases.Doing this took me longer than expected yesterday, which makes it unlikely that I will be able to finish the other task, fixing legacy URLs in all forum postings, today. I will run the script now on Monday, the 22nd. The forum will stay online the whole day today (Friday, the 19th). As a side effect, most links in postings on the forum are currently broken. This will be fixed on Monday. Please excuse the inconvenience.
Cheers,
FerdinandIn case you really must resolve any links in the mean time, here are the two most important cases of currently broken links in our forum:
- Legacy routing fix links into our docs: Just remove the
/assets/
path component, as the docs are not served by the forum anymore (as a dirty fix).- old:
https://developers.maxon.net/docs/py/2024_0_0a/modules/c4d/C4DAtom/GeListNode/BaseList2D/BaseObject/index.html
- new:
https://developers.maxon.net/docs/py/2024_0_0a/modules/c4d/C4DAtom/GeListNode/BaseList2D/BaseObject/index.html
- old:
- Attachments in postings: You now need here the prefix
/forum/
since the forum does not reside on the root path anymore.- old:

Dear Community,
as always, things took me a little bit longer than expected, but links on the forum should be patched now. All postings should correctly display attachments and references to downloads and the docs should also correctly resolve again.
I also scanned the forum and removed or translated URLs. This concerns for once legacy
ASP.net
forum URLs which have been replaced with the matching NodeBB URL (to be found in the Legacy Forum, e.g., here). Removed have also been a substantial amount of non-resolving URLs. Most relevant are here links into our olddevelopers.maxon.net
platform, such as download and posting links. They cannot be mapped to new content hand therefore had to be removed. For such postings you find then find[URL-REMOVED]
markup in the postings to signal where links have been removed. Find an example here. Finally, I have also replaced all legacy documentation links (
/docs/Cinema4DCPPSDK/...
and/docs/Cinema4DPythonSDK/...
) from before we distinguished between versions in our online docs. While legacy links will continue to resolve, e.g., link, you should always use the new URL scheme. There will be no further maintenance work on the forum in the near future.
Cheers,
Ferdinand
