This was an idea I had quite a while ago and I think it would be great. My idea would require a huge amount of work and I'm not sure how practical it would be but here goes...
What if this consists of two components... a fully function game engine and a plugin for C4D to add some functionality specific to game development. The game engine would actually be based on existing C4D code, and would be able to read and process C4D expressions, xgroups, objects, etc. That way, anything you create in C4D could be exported and ran directly in your game. Obviously there would need to be some limitations and optimizations since it would have to run real-time, but I think a system like that would be pretty amazing. Essentially C4D would become the game's editor for scripts, materials, models, levels etc. The game engine would have to be very general purpose and open-ended preferably with support for plugins so it could be used for anything someone wants. Ah, just thinking about this makes me want to start working on my game engine again -

Well, I wanted this as well. Blender does just that. However blender is not as nice as C4D by a long stretch. I too think that C4D would appear to naturally work as a real-time engine. The big focus on speed of the render in many advertisements I have seen give this impression. Real-time rendering and Photo-quality rendering are very different in focus though. I believe to manage the two would require Maxon to do a code split. It would be great to see a Maxon game engine based on C4D!

P.S. I looked for the blender page and it seems to be down. There are fan sites that you can probably find however. -

you know... a .smd exporter/importer (Studio Model Data - http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SMD_file_format) would go a long way with valve softwares (HL, Half-Life 2 etc) Source Engine SDK.
But add a .vtf (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/VTF) importer/exporter... and GOODBYE Max, XSI|modtool, and Photoshop... and HELLLLOOO C4D & BP3d!! ! !
