Although I have experience in writing C, C++, and Java, I'm totally new at trying to write plugins for C4D (R8). What do I need to download and where exactly do I find the SDK, documentation, etc.?
I know that this is the right place (Plugin Cafe), but can only find online documentation so far.
Thanks and expect general confusion on my end...

Hi,
you need a computer optimal would be a PC and MAC if you want to develop with C++.
In this case you will need MSVC++ 6 for PC and Metrowerks Codewarrior 8 for MAC to compile with highest performance.
You can also use Codewarrior on PC to compile for PC & MAC (Cross-compilation) but the code performance isn´t as good as on a MAC.
Then get into the download section of the plugincafe and download the SDK Project files. You want to additionally download the SDK Documentation.
That´s all you need. To test your plugins it would be an advantage if you owned Cinema 4D
Best

Just got the SDK files and docs (check)
Cinema 4D XL R8 (check)
Alright, I will read through the documentation and fire away questions afterwards...
Thanks, Samir,

Sorry about that Samir,
That was me posting as kuroyume to test out a problem that he was saying he had. I should have checked the context of where I was issuing the test. -
